Community Service and Volunteer Work

Living Green

Building green is the business, but living green and contributing to our community is just as important to us! Our family is committed to doing our part to encourage growing green, recycling and beautifying, and educating others on how to bring more green living into their lives.

Since 2013, here are some of the living green projects we have participated in:

  • Assisted with the donation of materials and services for a rain barrel install at Amelia Island Montessori School in Fernandina Beach for the Green Apple Day of Service through the USGBC North Florida.  We also did a demonstration for the students to educate them on the benefits of a rain barrel and the reduction of stormwater runoff.

  • Volunteered for the liveSMART trailer for USGBC North Florida at the One Spark Festival in Jacksonville as well as the USGBC North Florida booth at the Jacksonville Zoo Party for the Earth and the Wild Amelia Nature Festival.

  • Donated time and materials for two raised garden beds and a compost bin project for the Green Apple Day of Service for Amelia Island Montessori School in Fernandina Beach.  We also turned the project into a reuse project by using an old swing set and slide for the garden materials.  Other reuse items included pavers from Talleyrand and screws from an old barn in North Carolina.

  • Introduced four films in the 2013 Green Film Series for USGBC North Florida for Nassau County residents.

 Volunteer Roles:

  • Awards Committee Chair for USGBC NE Florida Region 2016-present.

  • USGBC NE Florida Region Board Member 2017-present (Vice Chair 2018-present).

  • Keep Nassau Beautiful Board Member 2018-present. Volunteer efforts include road cleanups, hazardous waste events for the county, and education events for schools.

  • Building Tours Coordinator for USGBC North Florida in 2014-2018.
